Riding around Riga to source some special items
Today, I wanted to buy some special items, which are only sold in specific places. Nothing really special, actually: cheese and asparagus. Now, for the cheese, I wanted to go to the Sky supermarket. They have the best Dutch cheese. And for the asparagus... well, I wanted Latvian asparagus, because someone told me they were close to the Dutch and German ones. In any random supermarket, you can buy the white ones from Peru, but they're rather tasteless. The Dutch are great, and so are the German ones. But they are not available in Latvia. So, I wanted to try the Latvian ones. Someone told me there was one person to sell them in the Vidzeme market. Since the weather in Riga is really nice today, I decided to make a little bike tour out of it. First stop: the Vidzeme market, where I indeed found someone selling Latvian asparagus. Then via the VEF bridge, and after that another, long, bridge, over the railway tracks, past the main cemetary to Sky & More and then back home.
